Adding more sites
Most customers have exactly one site, and the Portal keeps the concept out of the way until a second one exists.
What a second site actually gives you
Two sites of yours share nothing on the transfer path:
- Different addresses.
- Different users. A user on one site does not exist on the other.
- Different Storage Connectors.
- Different plans, different capacity, different renewal dates.
- Different servers, in different regions if you choose.
They share exactly one thing: your billing relationship. They appear on one account.
When a second site is the right answer
- Data residency. One site in the EU and one in the US, each on its own dedicated server, with no shared machinery between them.
- Genuinely separate operations. Two business units that must not see each other's users or storage, and whose administrators should be scoped apart. See Your team and their roles for site scoping.
- A hard isolation requirement that a single site cannot satisfy with folder permissions.
When it is not
Saving money. It does not. Each site carries its own user accounts and its own connector slots, so the same number of people spread over two sites costs more in total than on one larger plan, not less.
Tidiness. Folders, folder sets and per user mounts already separate work inside one site, at no extra cost and with one set of users to administer. See Folder sets.
Ordering one
- Choose New site in the sidebar.
- Name it, place it, pick its plan. The wizard is the same as the first one, minus the trial: the free trial applies to your first site only.
- The site is created immediately and stays suspended until the first payment completes.
Ordering needs account wide reach: an admin, or an accounting member who is not scoped to specific sites.
Full detail on each choice, including which are permanent: Create your first site.
After it exists
Each new site needs its own storage connected and its own users. Follow Connect your storage and Create your first user again for it.
